INDUSTRIAL SAFETY HELMETS

If you have a Head you need a Helmet or else it belongs to another!!

Safety helmets or Hard Hats are designed to protect the head against falling objects and the side of the head, eyes, and neck from any untoward impacts, bumps, scrapes, and electrical exposure etc.

Covid or No Covid head protection is a must and there to stay for ever as the Industry needs to work to take care of the economy and thus cannot stop it’s functioning. But at the same time accidents of such nature are common in the Industry some are reported and some are not but the fact is that Head being most critical part of the body needs protection all the time.

What Data says?

Statistical data regarding occupational accidents show that the most common cause of head injuries are impacts from falling objects and impact against sharp and hard items. The consequences of such an occurrence depend principally on the kinetic energy of the impact and the shape and hardness of the material coming into contact with the head.

Injuries caused by mechanical factors may affect skin on the head, skull, brain and neck segments of the spinal cord. In extreme cases, these injuries may lead to permanent disability or even a person’s death. However, one must remember that the use of helmets does not eliminate dangerous factors but only reduces the gravity of their consequences.

Industrial Safety Helmets with or without Ventilation is an answer to such problems as it not only protects the user it also helps in saving his / her family from trauma and at the same time helps save the industry from Loss time accidents caused by accidents.

How do they work?

They have a hard Shell which takes care of the Impact, the Inner harness to provide snug fit on the skull as well as it provides cushioning between the inner of the Shell and the Wearer’s head, Chinstrap to hold the Helmet in place by way of Chin and a sweat band to absorb Sweat while in use. The ventilation ports provide air ventilation across the skull while working long hours and amidst high heat areas.

When it follows from a risk assessment the user must wear a safety helmet from the very beginning of his work and for the entire duration of the shift and is responsible for using head protection equipment in accordance with its purpose.

CHEMISPLASH GOGGLES: TWO IN ONE FOR INDUSTRY AND MEDICAL CARE

“THE BEST MEDICAL PRACTIONERS WEAR THEIR MASKS BELOW THEIR EYES”

The industry has been starving for excellent Eye Protection whether against normal and high speed particles or Chemical Splash or even Molten Metal and this is now compounded with the Covid19 Pandemic which has engulfed the world and lives have been lost as if it’s nobody’s business.

As the Pandemic is far from being controlled, WHO has advised all, whether Medics or Common Men to protect their Eyes as that’s the only thing you can’t keep shut and need to keep it open when you are working or when you are awake. Rest virus entry points can be covered or shut.

Chemisplash Goggles are the answer to such a requirement as you can continue to work with your Eyes Wide open and still stay protected. They are light in weight, cover your complete Eyes, Eyebrow downwards and can be adjusted to be Snug fit so chance of any airborne particles to enter your eyes and being indirectly vented usher in fresh air so that you are comfortable in working for long hours.

EXPERTS VIEW

What does the CDC have to say?

Well, the CDC says that the nose and mouth are the main avenues by which someone catches the virus, but “it may be possible that a person can get COVID-19 by touching a surface or object that has the virus on it and then touching their own mouth, nose, or possibly their eyes.”

On the other hand, Steinemann said, “if you are in close proximity to somebody screaming at you or talking to you or coughing in your face, or if you work in a hospital, suctioning people who is in an intensive care unit — those types of situations are extremely high risk, not only to your nose and your mouth but also to your eyes. In a high-risk situation, I would definitely recommend the use of goggles.”

“Theoretically, you should protect all the mucosal surfaces,” Fauci, the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, told ABC News Chief Medical Correspondent Dr. Jennifer Ashton. That includes your nose, mouth, and eyes. “So if you have goggles or an eye shield, you should use it.

How effective are these Chemisplash Goggles?

They are Compact, Lightweight with Indirect Vented Body having Odourless Flexible Frame with Wide and optically clear vision Polycarbonate Lens (99.9% UVA and UVB protection) which is highly resistant to impact from flying particles moving  at 120 m/s (270mph) and is Splash resistance having an Adjustable strap for a snug, customizable fit.

What’s more they can be sanitized, washed with soap or any other mild decontaminants, besides they are reusable many times until they wear off and can then be recycled.

COVID-19: Gujarat-based company develops reusable PPE kit

sure-safety-ppe

Vadodara-based company, Sure Safety, has developed a reusable personal protective equipment (PPE) kit to fight COVID-19.
Managing director of the company Nishith Dand told THE WEEK that the kits would not only be useful in ensuring the safety of the medical professionals, but will also mitigate the challenge of the biomedical waste generated by the kits that are currently available.
Sure Safety, which, in the past, provided reusable kits to other countries, has made the kits it user-friendly for the medical professionals, and the decontamination process too has been made simpler. Breathing air quality equipment has been added in it, making it convenient for use even when the air quality is poor, Dand said.
The company can produce 50,000 pieces a month and is planning to double the production if required. It is awaiting necessary mandate from the government.
The reusable PPE kits (a set of 10) comes with a decontamination chamber and the one-time cost of installation, including piping, is about Rs 25 lakh to Rs 30 lakh. In case additional reusable PPE kits are to be purchased, it costs around Rs 10,000 to Rs 15,000, Dand said. The disposable kit costs around Rs 2,000.
The reusable PPE kits are made up of multi-laminated fibre, anti-static materials and exhalation valves, according to Dand.
He observed that such suits can be of great use as India and the world have been witnessing disasters and pandemics every two to three years. He cited examples of bird flu, SARS, Ebola and Zika virus apart from COVID-19.
Sure Safety, which has so far delivered 60,000 disposable kits to the Union health ministry, had delivered India's first space suit to ISRO in 2015.
